National Mid-Term Expert

Tasks:

  • As a member of the project team, communicate and liaise with the relevant stakeholders on gender-based discrimination and gender-based violence.
  • Support the relevant stakeholders in their strategic and practical efforts to combat gender-based discrimination and gender-based violence.
  • Develop hands-down practical advice on how to improve the situation for the victims of gender-based violence taking into account the different roles of the various stakeholders and inter-institutional cooperation.
  • Analyze the respective legal framework and practice to develop practical recommendations and guidance with the aim to increase the number of cases of gender-based discrimination handled by the relevant institutions.
  • Support the application of EU and international standards and good practice in the eradication of biased gender roles and stereotypes as well as patterns of systematic and institutionalized discrimination.
  • Develop and conduct training sessions on gender-based discrimination and relevant case law as well as an effective response to gender-based and domestic violence.

Necessary Qualifications/Skills:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant university degree (preferably law, human rights)
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Macedonian
  • Proven relevant experience and skills in research, analysis and reporting (minimum 5 years) on gender issues and discrimination
  • Excellent knowledge about the situation of gender-based discrimination and gender-based violence in North Macedonia
  • In-depth knowledge about the European standards and caselaw on gender-based discrimination
  • Experience in drafting strategic documents
  • Ability to cooperate with the national and international partners in the field of tackling gender-based discrimination and gender-based violence
  • Strong networking skills
  • Very good oral and written communication and presentation skills, sensitivity to political environment, excellent analytical skills, pragmatic approach, strong in strategic thinking and operational planning.
  • Flexibility, strong adaptation skills and capability of teamwork in a potentially stressful environment under tight deadlines

 

ADVANTAGES:

  • Experience in working with EU funded projects or in EU networks

Prior publications/reporting about the situation of gender-based discrimination and gender-based violence in North Macedonia
