Police Cooperation: Fight against organised crime, in particular illicit drug trafficking, and the prevention of terrorism
This project was jointly implemented by the Federal Ministry of the Interior/Austrian Criminal Intelligence Service and the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) in the Western Balkan Countries, Kosovo and Turkey. The stakeholders were Europol, INTERPOL, EUROJUST, SELEC, OLAF and RCC. Croatia acted as a ‘Regional Advisor’ and was responsible for providing advice on regional cooperation within the country specific expert groups. The project aimed to improve the capacities of national and international law enforcement and judicial agencies to prevent and combat organised crime, in particular illicit drug trafficking and financial crime, as well as to prevent terrorism. Included therein was the objective of bringing existing regional mechanisms into compliance with EU acquis, standards and best practices.
