Harmonisation with EU norms of the legislation and standards of Georgia in the field of Civil Aviation
The overall objective was to ensure that all Georgian aviation regulations in civil aviation safety and licensing of air carriers are harmonised with those of the European Union and implemented by the aviation authorities and industry in Georgia with the aim to
increase safety standards in Georgia
support negotiations between the EU and Georgia in this area.
In areas where the EU has not yet adopted Implementing Rules to the Regulation 216/2008, or not covered by the Regulation 3922/91 (EU OPS), aviation regulations in civil aviation in Georgia were harmonised with the relevant Joint Aviation Requirements, as they stand on 30 June 2009.
The project purpose was that by the end of the project, all the regulations of the Georgian Civil Aviation were fully complying with the requirements of the EC Regulation 216/2008 and implemented rules thereto the remaining JARs as they stand on the 30 June 2009 (in the areas not covered by the Implementing Rules), the EU OPS (Regulation EC 3922/91 and following legislation), Directive 94/45 and Directive 2003/42 and Regu¬lation (EC) 1008/2008, to the extent it concerns licensing of air carriers. Operators, CAD and the Ministry should fully understand, apply and implement these requirements.
